A Two-day agrarian market – Unique Georgian Taste - was organized in Dedaena Park with the support of the European Union (EU) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). More than 40 Entrepreneurs, farmers and producers from different regions of Georgia participated in the event.

Cheese, honey, jams, sauces, flour and meat products were among the agrarian products brought to Tbilisi from their places of origins and exhibited for sale and tasting. The Agrarian Market introduced well-known Georgian food products linked to geographic locations, specific climate, soil, animal species, plant varieties, and shared some of the traditional know-how of local producers.

Among the participants of the event were the beneficiaries of the FAO projects, supported by the EU and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The projects support agricultural development in Georgia by providing Georgian farmers with agricultural extension services and matching grant support.

“This agricultural market well frames the multidimensional support that FAO, together with EU and SDC, provide for farmers in Georgia. These delicious products are the outcomes of traditional and modern agricultural education, direct investment in agriculture, and market linkage possibilities we also provide,” FAO-EU Programme Coordinator, Javier Sanz Alvarez said.

Representatives of the EU Delegation to Georgia, FAO and other partner organizations attended the opening of the agrarian market.

The event was organized with the support of the EU and FAO, under the EU4Business initiative - EU Innovative Action for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia.
