National Agrarian Olympiad winners awarded
The Fourth National Agrarian Olympiad concluded with the award ceremony. 42 finalists from various categories of the competition were awarded prizes by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Environmental Information and Education Center, Agricultural Development Association (ADA) and the sponsors and supporters of the Olympiad.
The idea behind the National Agrarian Olympiad is to check the knowledge of participants, reveal winners and promote them nationwide. The Olympiad is held in the fields of agronomy, food technology, forestry, wine technology, agricultural mechanization, veterinary medicine, and environmental protection. Respectively, the competition technically covers all priority fields and specializations in demand on the employment market of the corresponding profile in Georgia.
“1,342 participants registered on the 2024 Agro Olympiad website, of which 905 participated in the first round. As a result of the tests, 42 winners were identified in various categories. We are particularly pleased that the participation of young people has increased significantly, which shows their growing enthusiasm and engagement compared to previous years.” - Ekaterine Avaliani, FAO Project Coordinator.
The National Agrarian Olympiad represents the only platform, in Georgia and in the whole Region, owning a qualified mechanism for professional knowledge evaluation and endorsement of informal education in agriculture. The competition aims to promote the agricultural sector and agrarian education, raise awareness among young people on different agricultural fields as well as the importance of environmental protection issues.
The National Agrarian Olympiad has been held since 2021, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the patronage of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the financial support from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). Environmental Information and Education Centre of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Rural Development Association (ADA) are the Olympiad partners. The supporters of the Agricultural Olympiad are: Credo Bank, Invet Group, TBC for Business, Agronom, Crystal Bank, Nutrimax, Ecowood, CENN Project - Green Caucasus, LEPL Agency for Protected Areas, Swiss Agricultural School "Caucasus", "Svanidze Olives", Association of Young Veterinarians, Agromotors, Agrotechno and Mtatsminda Park.
