Training on Air Pollution Modelling and delineating hotspots using satellite data and geospatial analysis in Lao PDR

A training workshop took place on Air Pollution Modelling and delineating hotspots using satellite data and geospatial analysis during 18-19 August 2022 at Crowne Plaza Hotel at Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR. During the workshop, the methodological approach, data analysis and results to strengthen capacities in monitoring air pollution using satellite data were presented and discussed with national and provincial officers. The workshop was attended by 20 participants from Natural Resources and Environment Research Institute (NERI), Department of Forestry (DoF), Department of Agriculture Land Management (DALAM), Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DHM), Department of Climate change and Provincial of Natural Resources and Environment (PONRE) in Luangprabang and Savanaket. Technical discussion focused on identification of air pollution hotspots, use of air pollution monitoring data and its integration with ground station data, drivers of air pollution, statistical analysis, air mass trajectory modelling, fire monitoring by province, land cover, and elevation classes. Materials provided during the training include software, script, data, presentation, and documentation.
