An international consultation on the development of the new land characterization system software (LCHS) has been organized on 21 November 2022 by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with National Research Council - CNR, Italy. 60 people from 40 organizations including UN agencies, Regional and national organizations and academia from 35 countries participated. The development aim of this software is to design and implement a system that can evolve with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards itself. It is an open-source software for editing land cover legends compliant with ISO 19144-2 – Land Cover Meta Language (LCML) standard.
