FAO at the Living Planet Symposium 2025: Advancing geospatial tools and WaPOR applications >>>
The FAO Geospatial Unit and WaPOR team, both hosted by the Land and Water division, will be participating in the Living Planet Symposium 2025, taking place from 23 to 27 June in Vienna, Austria. Organized by the European Space Agency (ESA), the event brings together the global Earth observation (EO) community to discuss scientific and operational advances and their impact on society and sustainability.
Throughout the week, FAO staff will showcase the organization’s work on EO tools for sustainable land and water management, particularly in support of agricultural monitoring.

| Earth Observation for Environmental Compliance: Enhancing Monitoring, Guidance, and Enforcement – PART 1 Presenter: Elisha Njomaba, Remote sensing and land evaluation specialist, FAO. The panel will discuss the challenges related to data privacy, quality, availability and legal admissibility that must be overcome to fully realize the potential of EO in the fight against environmental crime.
