Geospatial information for sustainable food systems

To improve knowledge sharing on the use of geospatial technologies in support to sustainable urban and agricultural development, the virtual event “Geospatial for Sustainable Agriculture and Urban Development” was organized on September 15, 2022. This virtual event gathers 90 participants from 39 countries and 52 organizations to share experiences and strengthen collaboration on using geospatial information and resources for sustainable urban environments, agriculture, and food security in Africa. The Director of the Land and Water Division at FAO gave the opening remark for the event and highlighted FAO’s commitment to improving food security, sustainable agriculture and urban forestry through evidence-based decision-making and geospatial tools and technologies.
