On 22 April 2026, the government of Guatemala is hosting a one-day workshop in Guatemala City, Guatemala, to bring together national institutions that are key to implementing the National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS) with the goal of strengthening interinstitutional collaboration and advancing the NFMS roadmap. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) is organizing the workshop in coordination with the National Forest Institute (INAB); Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA); and the National Council of Protected Areas (CONAP).
Experts from the Country-Led Planning (CLP) programme of the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) will support the facilitation of the workshop. The CLP programme of support is implemented by the GFOI Office with funding from the AIM4Forests programme at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which is funded by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
