Wilpa Capacity Development and Google, partners with the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI), will organize a regional workshop on monitoring forest disturbances and carbon accounting this week in Guadalajara, Mexico. From 18 to 24 November, the workshop will bring together colleagues from across Latin America to strengthen national forest monitoring systems and deepen technical capacities in these topics.
The workshop will be implemented by the GFOI’s new contributing partner, Wilpa Capacity Development, with support from Google. It will feature hands-on training in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation’s (FAO’s) SEPAL platform and Google Earth Engine for forest monitoring and analysis.
The exchange will be hosted by the National Forestry Commission of Mexico (CONAFOR) in Guadalajara. We would like to acknowledge CONAFOR for their continued leadership and collaboration in advancing forest monitoring across the region.
