MGD3.0 is now also available in Spanish and French!

22 March 2021

Following the launch in 2020 of the third English edition of the Methods and Guidance Documentation (MGD3.0), the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) is pleased to announce that MGD3.0 is also now available in Spanish and French.

The MGD has become a vital resource for helping developing countries to establish national forest monitoring systems (NFMS) and associated emissions measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) procedures for REDD+. The MGD, and its online platform REDDcompass, provide user-friendly guidance for addressing UNFCCC decisions through the practical implementation of IPCC good-practice guidance.

The English version of MGD3.0 is already being used widely by countries and development partners worldwide. However, having the document now available in three of the commonly spoken languages of tropical forested countries will further increase the accessibility of GFOI’s guidance and its utility in helping them to overcome the complex challenges of developing an NFMS and associated MRV procedures.

MGD3.0 has been developed and reviewed rigorously through the collaborative contributions of GFOI partners. The translation was organized by the GFOI Office as hosted by FAO with funding from Australia and Norway.

We hope you find the MGD3.0 to be a useful resource in all three languages and we look forward to ongoing collaborations.
