Advancing forest monitoring in Ghana

Tessia Boateng from the Ghana Forestry Commission shares insights on Ghana’s progress in forest monitoring, reporting and verification through the Accelerating Innovative Monitoring for Forests (AIM4Forests) programme during the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) and AIM4Forests South-South knowledge exchange, held from 25 to 28 November 2024 at the headquarters of GFOI Lead partner the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome. Tessia discusses GFOI’s Country-Led Planning (CLP) process, advancements in Ghana’s national forest monitoring system (NFMS), and collaboration with FAO. She also highlights how FAO’s AIM4Forests programme is providing technical support and capacity development, including training on Monte Carlo simulations for uncertainty analysis. Learn more
