China and France sets a vivid example of Twinning Programme

Fuzhou, China, 23 July 2014

The Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System “Jasmine and Tea Culture” of China and the “Association Campaigning for the Inscription of the Climats du Vignoble de Bourgogne” of the UNESCO World Heritage List of France signed the Memorandum of Cooperation for Agricultural Heritages in Fuzhou, China on 6 July 2014.

The Memorandum signified a twinning programme between Jasmine and Tea Culture of Fuzhou City and Climats of the Bourgogne vineyards. Under the twinning programme, both sides will cooperate in promoting conservation of agricultural heritage and its, agro-products and agritourism.

The cooperation between China and France is a vivid example of twinning programme between developed and developing countries and a result of the bridging efforts made by Ministry of Agriculture (MOA). It can be recalled that the twinning programme is a GIAHS Forum 2013 recommendation (Noto Communiqué on Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems).
