World Environment Day 2020

05 June 2020

Time for Nature – 5 June is World Environment Day and this year the focus is on biodiversity, calling for nature to be at the heart of all decision-making.

In the context of a post-COVID-19 world, this year’s theme is an opportunity to highlight the need to 'build back better', in harmony with the nature that our ecosystems and health depend on. Sound ecosystem management is the solution to achieve food security and protect human health while contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and climate adaptation and mitigation.

2020 was declared the “Super Year for Nature”, calling on the international community to move forward with a global framework that will bend the curve on biodiversity loss through action and solutions.
