The GSP supports countries in promoting sustainable soil management and restoring degraded soils through evidence-based guidance, technical cooperation and country-level implementation. Through the Recarbonization of Global Agricultural Soils (RECSOIL) initiative, the GSP promotes the adoption of sustainable soil management practices that increase and maintain soil organic carbon stocks and enhance soil health, contributing to increasing resilience and productivity. RECSOIL is the GSP contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation in the agricultural sector. RECSOIL protocols and tools provide practical guidance and indicators to assess soil health and support evidence-based decision-making. Together, these efforts contribute to the protection of healthy soils and the restoration of degraded lands.
