SESSION 2: GLOSOLAN training on laboratory's health and safety

26 October 2021 | 11:00 CEST | Language of the training: English

Guest speaker: Hanane Aroui (IRD, France), Mojgan Yeganeh (SWRI, Iran) and Nopmanee Suvannang (GLOSOLAN Chair, Thailand)

Biography: Hanane Aroui is a researcher at The Research Institute for Development (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, IRD) of France. Her main focus is soil physical analysis and in 2019 she joined the European Network for the Harmonization and Standardization of Physical Soil Measurement Protocols, SoPhie. She supported the harmonization of soil physical parameters of GLOSOLAN, and in 2020 she served as trainer on health and safety during the meetings of the Regional Soil Laboratory Networks (RESOLANs). Mojgan Yeganeh is an Assistant Professor of Soil Physics and pollution at the Soil and Water Research Institute (SWRI). Nopmanee Suvannang obtained a M.Sc. in Soil Science at Kasetsart University, Thailand. She made all her career since 1980 at the Land Development Department, (LDD, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand) as a soil chemist at the central laboratory and then as the Director of Soil Technical Service Section of the Office of Science for Land Development. Finally she was selected as an LDD Expert (Soil Chemistry), the position she had when she retired in 2016.  Since 2013 she worked tirelessly to organize and animate trainings about improving the soil laboratory data quality and comparability for the Asian region, and to join FAO meetings worldwide to promote the development of national and international soil laboratory networks. She has also been actively working on the development of GLOSOLAN standard operating procedures and their adoption by routine as well as quality control and research laboratories.

Abstract: The aim of this webinar is to generate awareness and build the capacity of laboratory technicians and managers to assess and prevent risks related to the use of equipment and reagents in soil analysis. The lecturers will brief participants on the health and safety measures to adopt in the laboratory, highlighting good laboratory practices and bringing practical examples. Participants will have the chance to raise questions and directly interact with the speakers in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
