The Soil mapping for resilient agri-food systems in Central America and sub-Saharan Africa (SoilFER) Project serves as a cornerstone initiative under the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS) framework. It aims to enhance soil information systems, capacity building, and data-driven decision-making to improve agricultural sustainability and productivity. The project leverages partnerships with international and national stakeholders to foster innovative approaches for soil and crop adaptation.

The upcoming 4th SoilFER Team Meeting plays a critical role in steering the project toward its long-term goals. This meeting is designed not only to reflect on the progress achieved so far but also to chart a clear path for the future. Key objectives include:

  1. Review Progress: Assess the achievements and challenges of SoilFER implementation from 2023–2024.
  2. Plan Ahead: Define clear priorities, timelines, and deliverables for 2025–2027.
  3. Enhance Collaboration: Strengthen coordination among international and national partners within SoilFER and VACS framework.
  4. Capacity Building: Develop a detailed capacity building plan
  5. Engage Stakeholders: Ensure alignment of project outcomes with stakeholder needs and expectations.

The meeting is expected to result in several outcomes:

  1. Updated roadmap for the SoilFER Project (2025–2027), including key milestones and deliverables.
  2. Enhanced strategies for integrating soil information into decision-making processes.
  3. Strengthened partnerships and synergies among participating institutions.
  4. Clear action plan for capacity-building initiatives to support project objectives.
