Description

This webinar presents some basic guidelines on how to perform internal quality control procedures in the laboratory, in order to prevent and/or limit the occurrence of errors in the measurement. The lecturers will provide a guidance on the practices to adopt in the laboratory, including the preparation of reference samples. Participants will have the chance to raise questions and directly interact with the speakers in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

Este seminario web presenta algunas directrices básicas sobre cómo realizar procedimientos de control de calidad interno en el laboratorio, con el fin de prevenir y/o limitar la aparición de errores en la medición. Los conferenciantes orientarán sobre las prácticas a adoptar en el laboratorio, incluida la preparación de muestras de referencia. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de plantear preguntas e interactuar directamente con los ponentes en una sesión de preguntas y respuestas al final de la presentación.

Biography

Mercedes Mendez is a research engineer at the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement - France). She is currently working as geochemist at the Research Unit LOCEAN ( Le Laboratoire d'Océanographie et du Climat : Expérimentations et Approches Numériques). Over the last ten years she has also been coordinating the Alysés Plateform (Analyses des sols et des sédiments tropicaux), where she is in charge of the isotopic laboratory which includes two isotopic ratio mass spectrometer to analyse bulk soil and sediment C and N content, 13C and 15N content, and 13C and D content at molecular level. Mercedes’s professional skill includes the use of bulk and molecular 13C analysis as proxies for organic carbon dynamics and sources in soils and sediments.
