粮农组织的开放性“手拉手”地理空间信息平台为因地制宜，制定更有针对性的农业干预措施提供最新信息，包括粮食安全指标和农业统计数据。该平台汇集了来自不同领域和来源的数百万个数据层，作为粮农组织“手拉手”行动计划的关键支持工具，同时为数字农业专家、经济学家、政府和非政府机构以及在粮食和农业部门工作的其他利益相关方服务。
这些数据来自粮农组织以及联合国和非政府组织、学术界、私营部门和空间机构的其他主要公共数据提供方，包括粮农组织的重要旗舰数据库“粮农组织统计数据库”，该数据库向245个国家和地区提供自1961年至最近可用年份的所有粮食和农业数据。自平台于2020年启动以来，超过65个国家和机构参加了培训班，学习如何利用数据和技术促进农业数字化转型和农村发展。
