Agricultural Integrated Survey Programme - AGRISurvey

AGRISurvey supports countries in the process of data production, providing technical assistance on four main aspects.

Survey programme design

  • designing a sampling frame to identify and specify the population of interest, and determine the most appropriate sampling criteria and methodology;
  • developing questionnaires and manuals;
  • implementing pilot tests;
  • training field staff on methodology and on the use of advanced data-collection technologies.

Data collection and processing

During the data collection, AGRISurvey staff collaborate closely with national partners, by:

  • supporting the revision of the questionnaires and manuals;
  • participating in the enumerators training and supervision;
  • supporting the data processing and the production of statistical reports.

Data dissemination and data use

The programme supports countries in improving the existing dissemination policies and programs, to ensure:

  • the adoption of formal data dissemination policy and programme as part of national institutional processes;
  • the dissemination of aggregated data sets, preferably according to open data compliant standard;
  • the release of anonymized agricultural survey and census micro-data files and associated metadata.

In addition, in view of fostering the effective use of AGRISurvey data for informed decision making and monitoring, the programme works at:

  • Supporting countries with the compilation of priority policy indicators (national, CAADP, SDG, etc.);
  • Strengthening institutional relationships between data users and producers;
  • Strengthening statistical literacy within key user groups.
