Peru anticipates rain and accelerates investment for prevention works

Channeling and cleaning works have been reviewed for rivers in the province of Huaura.

Past rains overflowing the Chicama River necessitated the construction of new roads, as pictured here.

The government has assigned a total of one billion soles to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri in Spanish) in order for the sector to execute prevention and reconstruction works from September to December of this year.

José Hernández Calderón, head of Minagri, confirmed this during the inspection visit to the channeling and cleaning works for rivers in the province of Huaura, in the Lima region, and bordering areas.

He specified that the Regional Government of Lima had allocated 54 million soles to adequately prepare for the upcoming rains in the summer of 2018.
