E-nugget n. 8 – Renewable Energy Resources for Irrigation

The Land and Water division is organizing an e-nugget on Renewable Energy Resources for Irrigation to discuss the role of energy for irrigation and food
security and illustrate the Water-Energy-Food nexus, indicating
potential benefits from the application of solar-powered irrigation.
The training focused, in particular on:
- The Water-Food-Renewable Energy nexus;
- Essentials of solar pumping for agriculture;
- The application of solar energy in irrigation: Aspects of operation and maintenance;
- Case studies from Egypt, Jordan, Uganda.
The training will be provided by Ahmed Abdelfattah
(FAO Land and Water Division), Alberto Belda Gonzalez (CARTIF), Prof.
Brian Norton (Technological University of Dublin) and Harley Frankfurt
(SADOCC IPP).
The e-nugget will be delivered in English with French subtitles.
