Common Oceans - A partnership for sustainability and biodiversity in the ABNJ

Meeting on deep sea fisheries management and biodiversity conservation at FAO HQ in May 2019

7-9 May 2019 | Rome, Italy. The Common Oceans ABNJ Deep Seas Project is convening a meeting at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 7-9 May. The aim of this meeting is to showcase existing knowledge, practices and innovative research for sustainable deep-sea fisheries management and biodiversity conservation in the areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ), and to provide stakeholders representing multiple sectors with the opportunity to discuss and synthesize opportunities and challenges faced in their field. The three-day meeting will be organized by FAO in collaboration with UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and the SponGES project consortium.
