Common Oceans - A partnership for sustainability and biodiversity in the ABNJ

Moving the needle on ocean health, wealth and food security

16 May 2016

The Blue Week Investment Conference kicks off with high-level discussions focused on action. Moving from ambitious commitments pledged by the international community under the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Paris Climate Change Agreement, a wide range of participants - from governments, NGOs, civil society, private sector, UN agencies - gather in Grenada to lay out directions on the way toward sustainable Blue Growth/Blue Economy.

Ensuring that all stakeholders have necessary capacity to move forward is crucial. In this regard, the Conference, hosted by the Governments of Grenada and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, also includes a three-day workshop on Capacity Development in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction organized by the Common Oceans Capacity Project. FAO has also organized a high level day featuring opportunities for sustainable food security investments in blue growth.
