B-INTACT presentation at the Third Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) Europe Conference, 7-10 June 2021

On the 9th of June the EX-ACT team presented the Biodiversity Integrated Assessment and Computation Tool (B-INTACT) during the Third Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) Europe Conference: “Ecosystem Services Science, Policy and Practice in the face of Global Changes” which took place in Tartu, Estonia as an hybrid event allowing the attendance also remotely.
Our presentation was included in the parallel session “O4- Guidelines, tools, databases and standards for implementing integrated ecosystem services assessments”. We had the opportunity to share the floor with partners from the Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD) and researchers working on implementing integrated ecosystem service assessments to improve decision-making in the field of ecosystem conservation, restoration and sustainable use.
We were invited to present B-INTACT as a tool that can provide decision-makers with timely, clear and concise information on potential biodiversity impacts of investments, policies and projects in the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector. The tool provides key policy indicators to support the preservation and restoration of biodiversity. Among those, the added/lost social value of biodiversity is of particular interest, which connects Mean Species Abundance (MSA) values with Ecosystem Service Valuation extracted from the ESVD and quantifies the impacts of AFOLU activities on the ecosystems in monetary terms.
We want to thank the organization for providing us the opportunity to share our work. We look forward to continuing this collaboration!
