Economic and Policy Analysis of Climate Change

EX-ACT training for IFAD members in Africa, 26-30 July 2021

News - 02.08.2021

From the 26th to the 30th of July, the EX-ACT (Ex-Ante Carbon Balance Tool) team provided training on EX-ACT v.9.1 to members of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) based in West and Central Africa (WCA) and East and Southern Africa (ESA).

Over the week, 27 individuals from four countries (Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad and Madagascar) participated in the training, which included attending online learning sessions, completing interactive exercises and analyzing case studies from IFAD projects.

The aim of the training was to provide IFAD country offices with the necessary expertise to understand and critically analyze results of an EX-ACT greenhouse gas (GHG) appraisal, as well as to perform preliminary appraisals in an independent way. This will allow participants to identify the climate mitigation impact of Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) investment projects and policies, monitor emissions reductions goals from projects and integrate climate change mitigation objectives into project development.

We want to thank IFAD and the individual participants for their interest and enthusiasm in learning about EX-ACT. We look forward to the upcoming training sessions covering other countries in the region.
