EX-ACT VC training for experts involved in IFAD projects in Africa, 09-12 August 2021

News - 16.08.2021

From the 9th to the 12th of August, the EX-ACT (Ex-Ante Carbon-balance Tool) team provided training on the Ex-Ante Carbon-balance Tool for Value Chains (EX-ACT VC) to members of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) based in East and Southern Africa (ESA) and other experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resource of Ethiopia and Ministry of Tourism of Eswatini.

Over the week, nine individuals from three countries (Eswatini, Ethiopia and Mozambique) participated in the training, which included attending online learning sessions, completing interactive exercises and analyzing a case study. The aim of the training was to provide the necessary expertise to understand and critically analyze the EX-ACT VC tool outputs that measure various socio-economic and environmental indicators including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, food loss and gross value added along an agri-food value chain, as well as to perform preliminary appraisals in an independent way.

We want to thank all the participants for their interest and enthusiasm in learning about EX-ACT VC. We look forward to the upcoming training sessions covering other countries in the region.
