Introduction to Port State Measures Agreement

We warmly welcome you to the self-study course offered by FAO's Development Law Service (LEGN): Introduction to Port State Measures Agreement, which takes 15 hours to complete.
The objective of this course is to provide an overview of port State jurisdiction the implementation of port State measures in general and the FAO Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (PSMA to combat IUU fishing and the efforts regional organizations to combat IUU fishing.
Among the contents to be covered are: Port state jurisdiction in customary international law; Port state jurisdiction provisions in international instruments; Operational provisions of the PSMA; Links between the PSMA and other international instruments; State and Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO) practice; and, Challenges to implementing port State measure.
Therefore, FAO has decided to develop this virtual version of the Introduction to Port State Measures Agreement course.

Pass requirements:
To pass the course, a final evaluation consisting of a summative questionnaire of 20 questions covering the course contents must be carried out, with unlimited attempts. The minimum percentage of achievement for approval will be 70% in the sum of the best evaluation obtained in the attempts.
Certification:
Once the course is passed, participants will be able to automatically download the certificate granted by the FAO RLC on the platform where the course is hosted.
