This national workshop is organized under the FAO–Türkiye Forestry Partnership Programme’s project “Improving Biodiversity and Sustainable Forestry (GCP/SEC/025/TUR)”, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The event will review the needs and opportunities for strengthening non-wood forest product (NWFP) value chains, improving certification, and enhancing market access in Tajikistan.

The workshop aims to integrate sustainable NWFP production, processing, marketing, and governance into multifunctional forest management strategies. It will balance ecological integrity with socio-economic benefits, addressing challenges such as market access, value addition, and certification (e.g., organic, fair trade).

Through technical sessions, value chain analysis, case studies, and participatory roadmap development, participants will identify gaps and priority interventions.

Targeting government authorities, NGOs, and technical experts, the workshop has two key expected outcomes: a preliminary roadmap for strengthening priority NWFP value chains, and an approach for integrating NWFPs into multifunctional forest management planning processes. This will also contribute to designing future investment-ready project components.
