This hands-on training is implemented under the project “Improving Biodiversity and Sustainable Forestry (GCP/SEC/025/TUR)”. This in-person event follows the online trainings conducted in July 2025 and will focus on developing practical skills for preparing and updating protected area management plans.

The training's primary objective is to equip participants with practical skills for preparing protected area management plans. It will emphasize the integration of biodiversity indicators, socio-economic assessments, and visitor management plans, while also strengthening the use of digital and participatory tools in the planning process.

The methodology combines theoretical sessions in Ankara with practical field applications in Bolu. Participants will engage in interactive exercises on zoning and stakeholder participation, conduct a rapid biodiversity assessment during the field visit, and learn from presentations on Türkiye's good practices in protected area management.

Targeting protected area managers and biodiversity experts from eight countries, the training is expected to enhance their capacity to link biodiversity monitoring with participatory approaches. Participants will complete the programme by analyzing country-specific PAMP drafts and documenting lessons learned from Türkiye's practices for adaptation.
