This hands-on training is implemented under the project “Improving Biodiversity and Sustainable Forestry (GCP/SEC/025/TUR)”. Building on the online training series from July 2025, this in-person programme focuses on the practical application of multifunctional forest management planning.
The training aims to strengthen participants' capacity to apply multifunctional, participatory, and gender-sensitive approaches in their work. Key objectives include mainstreaming ecological, socio-economic, and biodiversity data into planning, supporting data-driven decision-making, and learning from Türkiye’s forest management practices.
The five-day programme combines theoretical classroom sessions, interactive group exercises using simulated datasets, and GIS-based applications for mapping. The methodology also includes a field visit to a forest management unit in Türkiye to observe implementation, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring in practice.
Targeting forestry and forest management planning experts from eight countries, the training is expected to enhance their technical capacity significantly. Participants will leave with an improved understanding of integrating biodiversity and socio-economic data and will have developed country-specific draft outlines of forest management plans.
