The virtual workshop was formulated under the project “Capacity Building for Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Management in Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey (FISHCap): - GCP/SEC/013/TUR” implemented under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme on Food and Agriculture (FTPP II) funded by the Government of the Republic of Turkey. The event was organized on 23–24 June 2020 in two sessions in cooperation with Bogazici University’s Center for Climate Change and Policy Studies, a research centre conducting interdisciplinary research on the impacts of climate change.

FAO and Turkey have enjoyed a solid partnership since the country joined the Organization in 1948. The country has benefited from wide-ranging assistance from FAO and other partners, shaped by the FAO Country Programming Framework (CPF). Over the years, Turkey has also become an active resource partner, providing indispensable technical and financial support to the Organization’s activities, particularly within the Central Asian subregion.

These Guidelines have been prepared based on the findings of GCP/RER/030/TUR, Conservation Agriculture for irrigated areas in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which was implemented during 2011-2013. The project has been financed by the Partnership Programme of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the FAO Subregional Office for Central Asia in cooperation with the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).

This manual provides guidance for organizing and facilitating training of trainers in gender-sensitive rural advisory services design and delivery. It has been developed as part of the FAO project “Capacity Development Support to Rural Women on the Socio-economic and Gender Aspects of Sustainable Rural Development”, which was implemented in Turkey and Azerbaijan, in 2014-16. The project was realized under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme and financed by the Government of Turkey.

The book’s aim was to compile the existing data on organic agriculture and those collected through the project activities in order to display the current state-of-art in Azerbaijan. The book will also be available in the Russian and Azerbaijani languages to help decision makers and all stakeholders. This basis is expected to trigger further activities and projects on organic agriculture.

Kitabın yazılma məqsədi orqanik kənd təsərrüfatı haqqında mövcud olan və layihənin fəaliyyəti çərçivəsində toplanmış məlumatlar əsasında bu sahədə Azərbaycanda hazırkı durumu nümayiş etdirməkdir. Qərarverici və başqa maraqlı tərəflərə yardım etmək üçün kitab, azərbaycan və rus dillərində də mövcud olacaq. Kitabda təqdim olunan məlumatların, orqanik kənd təsərrüfatı sahəsində daha çox fəaliyyətlərin və layihələrin başlanılmasına müsbət təsir göstərəcəyi gözlənilir.

The book summarizes and presents the information on possible ways to adopt Conservation Agriculture (CA) approaches under the conditions of the countries mentioned above and makes recommendations for their further promotion. The Guidelines cover such topics as the significance and current state of agriculture in the project countries, permanent raised-bed planting technologies, zero-tillage technologies, weed varieties and main measures to control them, crop rotation, overview of CA machinery an d equipment, and laser-assisted land levelling. The Guidelines target agricultural scientists, specialists, trainers, extension consultants and interested farmers.

В данной книге обобщена и представлена информация о возможных путях внедрения принципов почвозащитного и ресурсосберегающего земледелия (ПРЗ) в условиях вышеуказанных стран и даны рекомендации для дальнейшего распространения. Руководство охватывает такие темы, как значение и текущее состояние сельского хозяйства в странах-участницах проекта, технологию посева по постоянным гребням, технологию нулевой обработки почвы, виды сорных растений и основные меры борьбы с ними, внедрение севооборотов, обз ор техники и оборудования для ПРЗ, а также применение лазерной планировки земель.

This project, started in 2014 under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme, was developed to improve services for rural women by enhancing the capacity of institutions and of agricultural extension and rural advisory services staff in Turkey and Azerbaijan. The project’s ultimate objective was to promote rural women’s socio-economic integration and enhance their income generation skills, by increasing rural women’s capacity and improving the design and delivery of gendersensitive agricultural exte nsion and rural advisory services.
