The CAC-Rust project has been developed to address wheat rust diseases faced by the countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Fishcap Project aims to increase regional capacities to effectively address the sustainable exploitation, management, protection and development of freshwater resources for sustainable fish production in support of food safety. Target countries of the project are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The project lasts between 1 Jan 2020 and 31 Dec 2023. Republic of Turkey is the donor of the project and provides with USD 1 000 000 budget.

Funded by the Government of the Republic of Turkey, the project aims to assist Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in developing measures to reduce food loss and waste. This manual provides guidance for organizing and facilitating training of trainers in gender-sensitive rural advisory services design and delivery. It has been developed as part of the FAO project “Capacity Development Support to Rural Women on the Socio-economic and Gender Aspects of Sustainable Rural Development”, which was implemented in Turkey and Azerbaijan, in 2014-16. The project was realized under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme and financed by the Government of Turkey.

The book’s aim was to compile the existing data on organic agriculture and those collected through the project activities in order to display the current state-of-art in Azerbaijan. The book will also be available in the Russian and Azerbaijani languages to help decision makers and all stakeholders. This basis is expected to trigger further activities and projects on organic agriculture.

The book summarizes and presents the information on possible ways to adopt Conservation Agriculture (CA) approaches under the conditions of the countries mentioned above and makes recommendations for their further promotion. The Guidelines cover such topics as the significance and current state of agriculture in the project countries, permanent raised-bed planting technologies, zero-tillage technologies, weed varieties and main measures to control them, crop rotation, overview of CA machinery an d equipment, and laser-assisted land levelling. The Guidelines target agricultural scientists, specialists, trainers, extension consultants and interested farmers.

This project, started in 2014 under the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme, was developed to improve services for rural women by enhancing the capacity of institutions and of agricultural extension and rural advisory services staff in Turkey and Azerbaijan. The project’s ultimate objective was to promote rural women’s socio-economic integration and enhance their income generation skills, by increasing rural women’s capacity and improving the design and delivery of gendersensitive agricultural exte nsion and rural advisory services.

This publication is a methodological tool and a guiding resource prepared under the “Strengthening national capacities for production and analysis of sex-disaggregated data through the implementation of the FAO Gender and Agriculture Framework (GASF)” project, funded by the FAO / Turkey Partnership Programme (FTTP). The contents of the toolkit were validated at three national workshops held respectively in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey from July 2015 to April 2016.

The National Gender Profile of Agricultural and Rural Livelihoods is part of the project GCP/SEC/008/TUR, which contributes to the Regional Initiative 1 for the REU Region and to the SO3 by improving knowledge for evidence-based policies. The purpose of the National Gender Profile of Agricultural and Rural Livelihoods - Turkey is to contribute to the production of knowledge for better informed, targeted and gender sensitive actions in agriculture and rural development.
