FISH4ACP

Unlocking the potential
of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture
in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific

More on our partners

The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) promotes the sustainable development of its 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific member states and their integration into the global economy.

FISH4ACP is funded by the European Union’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ).

DEVCO is the department responsible for EU policy on development and delivering international aid, while BMZ carries out Germany's development cooperation policy focused on protecting human rights and fostering the developing countries' sense of ownership and ability to help themselves.

The OACPS sees an urgent need to enhance the potential of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Exports of fish and fishery products are vital to the national economies of many countries in those regions.

Fish is also major source of affordable protein for the population and many people rely on the fisheries and aquaculture sector for their jobs and livelihoods, including a large proportion of women.
