Assess the vulnerability of Mediterranean forests to climate change was designed in the component 1 of the regional project “Maximize the production of goods and services of Mediterranean forest ecosystems in the context of global changes” funded by the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) and implemented between 2012 and 2016. This method was implemented in five pilot sites in Morocco (Maâmora forest; Belghazi & Mounir 2016), Algeria (Senalba forest; Gacemi 2016), Tunisia (Siliana forest; Aloui & Tounsi 2016), Lebanon (Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve; Navarrete Poyatos et al. 2016) and Turkey (Düzlerçamı forest; Türkeş & Musaoğlu 2016).

ATLAS aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of climate risk reduction in development programs through tested, harmonized approaches to adaptation assessments; thought leadership; and by building the capacity of USAID and its partners. By integrating adaptation into development investments, ATLAS helps to safeguard and promote sustainable, climate resilient growth.

The FAO Drylands Restoration Initiatives Platform (DRIP) is a response to urgent demands for efforts to arrest dryland degradation and restore degraded lands. Drylands, which cover 41 percent of the earth’s land surface and are home to two billion people, face extraordinary challenges, including those posed by desertification, biodiversity loss, poverty, food insecurity and climate change.
