The Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism

Third Global Programme Workshop of The Restoration Initiative (TRI)

From 14/11/2022 to 18/11/2022

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

The third Global Programme Workshop of The Restoration Initiative (TRI) will take place from 14 to 18 November 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya. This global meeting is the first time in-person meeting since the Covid-19 pandemic started and will allow participants to once again directly interact with each other to promote valuable learning. The overarching theme of this event is finance, as this has been an important part of supporting long-term sustainability for restoration efforts.

The principal objectives of this five-day workshop are the following:

  • share challenges, experiences and lessons learned during the first half of implementation of the TRI national projects;
  • strengthen the capacity of national TRI project teams on specific topics linked to finance (value proposition, tracking of finance for FLR, business planning and finance mobilization for restorative eco-enterprises)
  • discuss and enable adaptive management planning of TRI Global support to national projects in line with national needs and context; and
  • provide an opportunity to facilitate effective and coordinated communication between TRI countries, the Global TRI Programme and beyond.

It is expected that coordination, understanding, capacity and planning will be enhanced regarding the child project team progress on key topics such as finance for forest and landscape restoration (FLR) to support long-term sustainability of project interventions.
