The Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism (FLRM) will provide one of the accredited delegates to represent FAO at the first meeting of the Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) of the G20 in Bengaluru, India, from 9 to 11 February 2023.

The ECSWG first meeting of the G20 will be hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India. This meeting will bring together the G20 member countries, guest countries and international organizations invited by India. The programme for the ECSWG first meeting will centre on the following topics:

• the restoration of degraded landscapes;
• biodiversity and land degradation;
• circular economy; and
• the ocean and blue economy.

The FLRM will particularly contribute to the discussions on the restoration of degraded landscapes with a focus on areas affected by mining or forest fires, the related sessions for which will take place on 9 February 2023.
