Central American Dry Corridor
The Central American Dry Corridor flagship aims to improve the design and dissemination of restoration models to accelerate implementation and scale up restoration in areas prioritized by countries in the Central American Dry Corridor (CADC) and the Dry Arc of Panama, within the framework of the Central American Integration System (SICA) region. At the same time, it has the objective to generate evidence on the benefits of restoration by contributing to the regional efforts for a green recovery.
Highlighted activities
The flagship will promote restoration models in representative landscapes of the CADC, based on existing and complementary restoration initiatives, and contribute to expanding these models at national and regional level by:
- Developing capacities to implement a landscape restoration approach when carrying out local planning actions in the selected territories.
- Facilitating and promoting with the private sector, including development banks and financial institutions, the adoption and expansion of restoration initiatives and generation of incentives (economic, legal, etc.) for the implementation of restoration actions.
- Establishing a regional monitoring system to track the multiple restoration efforts and their ecological and socioeconomic benefits, while responding to the needs of countries to make informed decisions and meet their commitments.
- Increasing the visibility of the flagship to inspire and expand actions to other territories and enable countries to increase their climate resilience and respond to their sustainable development aspirations.
