Reboot the Earth 2025 Hackathon - New York City

New York City, May 21, 2025 – The countdown is on for the Reboot the Earth 2025 Hackathon in New York City, set to take place on May 29 and 30 at the iconic Salesforce Tower. Organized by the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) and co-hosted by Salesforce, including FAO, Carnegie Mellon and DPGA.
The event will convene young technologists, developers, designers, and climate advocates to co-create open-source digital solutions addressing the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Launched as a global initiative to harness digital innovation for climate action, Reboot the Earth empowers youth to ideate and implement tangible solutions through local hackathons held in cities across the globe. This year’s New York edition promises to be a dynamic and high-impact gathering of minds driven by urgency and creativity.
Opening remarks will be delivered by two prominent figures shaping digital innovation and sustainability:
- Bernardo Mariano Junior, Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Information Technology Officer of the United Nations
- Sabastian Niles, President and Chief Legal Officer at Salesforce
Participants will form multidisciplinary teams to develop prototypes and pitch their solutions to a jury of experts. Winning teams will be awarded:
- Six months of coaching from innovation specialists at Salesforce and UN partners, enabling them to further develop and scale their solutions.
- Official recognition certificates celebrating their creativity, teamwork, and climate commitment.
