The Global Network of Digital Agriculture Innovation Hubs

FAO’s Global Network of Digital Agriculture Innovation Hubs: Accelerating Inclusive and Sustainable Digital Transformation

21/10/2025, Rotterdam

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will present its Global Network of Digital Agriculture Innovation Hubs at Synergy Days 2025, Europe’s premier event for digital innovators in the agri-food sector, taking place on 21–22 October in Rotterdam.

Funded through FAO’s Flexible Voluntary Contribution (FVC) mechanism, the subprogramme establishes a global network of country-led hubs designed around national priorities, digital maturity and partner capacities.  Launched in Dominica, Grenada, Ethiopia and Morocco, the hubs support farmers and value-chain actors, especially youth and women, by accelerating the development and uptake of digital solutions tailored to local needs.

The programme addresses persistent barriers such as low product quality, high input prices, and limited access to agronomic and market information. Country examples illustrate its practical focus: in Grenada, hub activities include deploying digital tools to deter praedial larceny, protecting livelihoods and strengthening trust across the value chain.

Emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT and Blockchain, are integrated where context-appropriate to boost productivity, manage climate risks and diversify rural economies.

At Synergy Days 2025, FAO will engage researchers, policymakers, private sector leaders and community partners to catalyze partnerships that scale proven solutions and reinforce resilient, inclusive food systems.
