From November 7 to 11, 2022, Madagascar hosted a technical workshop as part of the technical assistance provided under GSARS II. This critical gathering laid the groundwork for the development of essential tools, including a questionnaire and a CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) application, crucial for the successful execution of the agricultural production survey in Madagascar. A standard questionnaire was agreed upon, featuring a unique approach to farm visits and yield sampling, marking a significant step forward in the country's agricultural data collection efforts.

The Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARS) Phase II, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries (MARAH) and its partners within the National Statistical System (NSS), including the National Agricultural Statistics System (NASS), has successfully completed a training workshop aimed at bolstering the statistical dissemination framework in Burkina Faso.

The 28th Session of the African Commission on Agricultural Statistics (AFCAS), held from December 4-8, 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, was themed “Leveraging Data & Statistics for Agri-Food Systems Transformation in Africa.” Bringing together senior statistics officials from across the continent, AFCAS 28 focused on reviewing the state of food and agricultural statistics in Africa, providing a crucial platform for idea exchange and the advancement of agricultural statistical systems in line with FAO's objectives.
