FAO, KnoWat and external experts discussed and reviewed the water governance and tenure assessment guides
On 12 December 2019, the KnoWat and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) projects, in collaboration with the Economic and Social Development (ESD) Unit, conducted a one-day technical expert that brought together over 30 experts from inside and outside FAO. Participants included ten external experts and about 20 FAO professionals from different technical departments and divisions. This workshop followed an FAO convened expert roundtable on water tenure and governance that took place on 11 December 2019 and which involved the ten external experts.
During the workshop, the draft methodologies on the guidelines for water governance and tenure assessment were presented and suggestions for improvement were made by participants.
In addition, participants were invited to share:
- their written comments on the two draft guides;
- any useful and relevant tool; and
- concrete examples from their country-level work.
