Providing more equitable and sustainable access to natural resources for food security

In February 2020, on 5 and 6 February 2020, the Technical Advisory Committee of the KnoWat project held a retreat, in Thiès, Senegal, bringing together the public administration (ministries, national and regional directorates), civil society, farmers' organizations and representatives of the national multi-stakeholder platform.

At the end of this meeting, the committee made several recommendations including the implementation of a local governance framework for water resources in the Delta and an integrated database allowing a complete control of withdrawals, agro-climatic data to estimate the recharge and the feedback of water-related data from the various stakeholders. The committee also recommended capacity building on climate change, water resources and good practices.

This retreat was a great occasion to share and discuss experiences in water management.
