SVC4SIDS - Value chain mapping workshop in Cabo Verde

31/05/2022

Hybrid meeting, 31 May - 2 June 2022

The SVC4SIDS project aims at enhancing the value chains of high-value species, to improve market efficiency and strengthen business performance. Special attention is paid to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to account for their significant potential to boost social and economic benefits, particularly for women and youth.

In Cabo Verde, that joined the project in 2021, SVC4SIDS is working on tuna and black mackerel, two of the most produced and traded species which are highly important for the country’s economy and livelihoods.

A value chain mapping workshop will be held in a hybrid format, from 31 May to 2 June 2022. Representatives from the Cabo Verdean Ministry of the Sea, FAO, local stakeholders, fish associations, and value chain experts will meet to validate the tuna and black mackerel value chain maps, followed by a discussion to identify challenges and areas for improvement, particularly in the semi-industrial and industrial sectors.
