Expo 2020 Dubai: Global Best Practice Programme
With the aim of localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Expo 2020 Dubai’s Global Best Practice Programme, ‘Small Steps, Big Leaps’, will spotlight simple but effective initiatives that can be adapted, replicated or scaled for enhanced global impact. The international call for projects will recognise ‘Best Practices for a Better 2030’ by creating visibility around projects related to Expo 2020’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and its key subtheme of Opportunity.
The Global Best Practice Programme will add value and advance collective impact towards the SDGs by gathering, spotlighting and rallying stakeholders around effective, successful initiatives for localising SDGs that can be adapted, replicated and scaled for enhanced worldwide impact.
The Programme called for projects related to five priority development topics and touching on at least one cross-cutting theme and enabler for development:
- Inclusive and sustainable service delivery
- Livelihoods and enterprise development
- Resilient habitats
- Social development
- Water, food and energy security
The ethos of the Global Best Practice Programme converges with each of the selected projects and the Expo will shine a light on them for global visibility and knowledge sharing in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Localising the Global Agenda in countries, communities, neighbourhoods and households lies at the heart of its successful implementation to ensure that no one is left behind.
