The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) is the continental plan for agricultural transformation launched in 2003 by African countries to reduce poverty and increase food security on the continent.  In 2013, African Heads of State re-committed to seven high level goals and principles, called the Malabo Declaration, that span issues, policies, and programs relevant to agricultural transformation in Africa, including food security and resilience.  Each year, CAADP stakeholders come together for an Africa-wide forum, called the Partnership Platform (PP), to review progress, dialogue on technical issues, share lessons learned, and drive mutual accountability to advance the CAADP Agenda. The CAADP PP is taking place from June 11-14 in Nairobi, Kenya this year.

On the heels of the CAADP PP, Africa Lead will facilitate a conversation with practitioners and senior CAADP leadership to reflect on some of the challenges implementing CAADP, what we have learned about how the process can drive action at various levels, and the value of shared metrics for improving country ownership. Through the discussion, the panelists will highlight updates from the ongoing Biennial Review process, which measures progress toward achieving African-led food security and resilience policy priorities by 2025. Overall, this webinar will shed light on the lessons in utilizing CAADP as a framework to stimulate, coordinate and ultimately, accelerate policy-led agricultural transformation.

Finally, the African Union will also share their new interactive, digital toolkit that presents the most recent CAADP scorecard data and findings from the Biennial Review in a user friendly way. The toolkit can help ongoing food security and resilience initiatives, programs and organizations to utilize CAADP performance data to catalyze action and inform program and policy improvements.
