Open-to-all launch event for the new, phase III of MAFAP on 6 April 2022!

FAO, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, representatives from Rwanda and Uganda, and global stakeholders are set to officially launch phase III of the leading policy support initiative in effort to boost inclusive agricultural transformation in 8 countries in sub-Saharan Africa

The official launch of 2022-2027 Monitoring and Analsying Food and Agricultural Policies (MAFAP) programme will take place virtually on Wednesday, 6 April 2022 at 15.30-17 CEST/Rome time. 

Joining FAO to hear about MAFAP's new mission and activities across eight partner sub-Saharan African countries will be respresentatives from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - the programme's main donor -, as well as policymakers from two MAFAP countries - Rwanda and Uganda, and global stakeholders the UK's Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and NGO the Just Rural Transition.

·       Opening remarks by FAO Chief Economist Máximo Torero Cullen

·       Short, joint presentation on the renewed MAFAP 2022-2027 by Christian Derlagen, MAFAP Manager and Senior Economist, FAO; and Marco V. Sánchez, Deputy Director, Agrifood Economics Division, FAO
