A Regional Consultation Workshop between Technical teams of Burkina Faso and Mali was held in November 2012 in Ouagadougou

The regional consultation workshop between the two technical teams of the project MAFAP in Mali and Burkina Faso was held on 6 and 7 November 2012 in Ouagadougou and with the support of the WAEMU Commission. It was attended by twenty participants from both countries and staff from the MAFAP Secretariat. The workshop aimed to present, discuss and consolidate the analyses on price related incentives, government spending and policy coherence. The workshop was allowed to compare the results and discuss experiences in implementing the MAFAP methodology and the project in general in the two countries. The workshop also discussed how these results will be used to strengthen policy dialogue in appropriate policy fora and processes at national and regional levels:

The analysis of public expenditures is ready and available in the form of technical notes;

The analysis of production incentives resulting from the impact of policies on prices has been achieved for a range of products (maize, rice, cattle, cotton, gum arabic, sesame and onion) and is available in the form of technical notes;

The first country report is drafted and will be submitted for validation by the national authorities by the first quarter of 2013. This report is available in draft form for review and comments.
