FAO’s Agrifood Economics and Policy Division, through its MAFAP team, is working with FAO’s Food and Nutrition Division and the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) to develop least-cost contextually appropriate healthy diets for subnational groups in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and MAFAP launched a project to support ongoing reforms in the agricultural sector

The Government of Ethiopia (GoE) has been promoting industrial development as a means of sustaining economic growth. Part of the country’s efforts to boost growth of the industrial sector is the development of Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks (IAIPs), which are expected to increase commercialization of agricultural products and accelerate the structural transformation of the economy. FAO is assisting the GoE with the preparation of comprehensive investment plans for each of the four pilot IAIPs in Ethiopia.

Increasing storage space and ensuring small farmers’ access to warehouses ranks high on the agenda of the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) of the Government of Ethiopia.

From the 10th of August to the 13th of August, a MAFAP member travelled to Addis-Ababa to follow-up on the programme’s activities.

The partnership between FAO and the Ethiopian Development Institute (EDRI) is giving its first encouraging results.
