MAFAP to help Bangladesh on price incentives on onion, potato and rice
The MAFAP Programme has signed a Letter of Agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture of Bangladesh to carry out economic analyses for three commodities, identify policy reform options to address bottlenecks in current policy and provide trainings to ministry employees.
MAFAP supports Senegal to improve the planning and coordination of expenditures towards food security
From 9 to 11 December, MAFAP experts supported Senegal’s Executive Secretariat of the National Food Security Council (SE-CNSA) to launch the Triennial Food Security Expenditure Planning Document (DPTSA) for the 2020-2022 period. This framework is expected to strengthen the coherence and effectiveness of Senegal’s government budget towards food security and the eradication of hunger.

Du 9 au 11 décembre, les experts du SAPAA ont appuyé le Secrétariat Exécutif du Conseil National de la Sécurité Alimentaire (SE-CNSA) du Sénégal lors de l’atelier de lancement du Document de Programmation Triennale des dépenses de Sécurité Alimentaire (DPTSA) pour la période 2020-2022. Le DPTSA vise à renforcer la cohérence et l’efficacité du budget que le gouvernement sénégalais déploie en faveur de la sécurité alimentaire et l’éradication de la faim.
MAFAP supports Ethiopia’s Agro-Industrial Parks initiative
The Government of Ethiopia (GoE) has been promoting industrial development as a means of sustaining economic growth. Part of the country’s efforts to boost growth of the industrial sector is the development of Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks (IAIPs), which are expected to increase commercialization of agricultural products and accelerate the structural transformation of the economy. FAO is assisting the GoE with the preparation of comprehensive investment plans for each of the four pilot IAIPs in Ethiopia.
MAFAP and IFPRI host seminar on public agricultural expenditure and rural investment strategies in Ghana
On Friday June 14th, 2019, the Monitoring and Analyzing Food and Agricultural Policies (MAFAP) project of FAO and the Ghana Strategy Support Program (GSSP) of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) hosted a seminar to share results of an economy-wide analysis of public agricultural expenditure and rural investment strategies in Ghana.
FARM launching a new initiative for the monitoring of agricultural policies at global level in synergy with MAFAP
On 6 May, the FARM Foundation (Fondation pour l’agriculture et la ruralité dans le monde) launched a new initiative, the “Observatory of agricultural support in the world”, during a conference held at Crédit Agricole headquarters in Paris. The aim of the Observatory is to provide synthetic indicators and analytical tools for comparing, monitoring and evaluating the agricultural policies around the world, and particularly in Africa.
