The Annual Agricultural Policy Conference (AAPC) is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture by the Policy Analysis Group (PAG), of which MAFAP is a founding member. The AAPC brings together policy makers and key stakeholders working on agricultural policy projects and initiatives to share research, and deliberate on the challenges, opportunities, and emerging policy issues.

The Consortium for Measuring the Policy Environment for Agriculture is an important policy forum composed of FAO/MAFAP, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the World Bank that aims at raising data quality and coverage to improve the evidence base for policy decision-making in agriculture.

On 4 December 2018 in Accra, MAFAP, the International Trade Center (ITC) and the Duke University Global Value Chains Center presented the results of a joint study aimed at boosting Ghana’s non-traditional agricultural exports (NTEs).The study proposes actionable policy options to the Government of Ghana to promote traditionally underinvested sectors and diversify the country’s agricultural exports portfolio.

On the 14 November, the MAFAP programme was invited to present its work at the Intersessional meeting of the intergovernmental group (IGG) on Hard Fibres and the IGG on Jute, Kenaf and Allied Fibres. The IGG is not only a platform to discuss current issues that affect fibres but is also a forum to explore and consolidate strategic partnerships with FAO.

On 19 September 2018 in Dakar, MAFAP and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (JRC) presented the results of a study that will guide optimal allocation of the agricultural budget for the 2019-2023 implementation period of “Plan Senegal Emergent” (PSE). The study’s Steering Committee, consisting of the Ministry of Finance’s General Directorate of Planning and Economic Policies (DGPPE), line ministries, and research institutions, shared observations and discussed the policy implications of various budget allocation scenarios.
