SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Forest-Related Targets and Their Impacts on Forests and People
The forest and water sectors play key roles in climate change mitigation and adaptation and are important components in the Paris Agreement. This policy brief presents recommendations together with supporting evidence from forest-water initiatives, tools, and approaches used around the world on how to work with resilient landscapes management, which is also integral to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This open-access article is the result of a study conducted on the global state of the forest-water nexus and its inclusion in international agenda. In order to better understand the forest-water nexus in a global perspective, we analyzed international frameworks that consider forest and water relationships, namely the Sustainable Development Goals and the (Intended) Nationally Determined Contributions.
